Bob and Mary Lu Hodgins recently attended the joint conference of two trade organizations - the IEGA (International Engraved Graphics Association) and WPT (Worldwide Printing Thermographers). Held in Salt Lake City, this year's conference marked the 100th Anniversary of the IEGA organization. The first meeting was held in Chicago on July 13th, 1911. The organization exists to promote and support what engraving is, and why it should be used. The need for engraving is, contrary to popular belief, not disappearing. Due to it's many unique features that cannot be duplicated with any other print process, it is being recognized more today than ever. The latest project of the IEGA is an initiative to produce textbooks and curriculum for design schools, to educate the next generation of designers on engraving.

The official "voice" of the thermography industry, the Worldwide Printing Thermographers Association (WPT) is the trade association of choice for industry-leading firms and suppliers. Headquartered in Nashville, TN, WPT was established to promote and advance the art of thermography and the use and application of the thermographic process. The WPT is now organized under the IEGA.

Hodgins Engraving exhibited at the PSDA's 2011 Print Solutions Expo in Chicago, held from May 17th—19th. We exhibited new samples of our work and showed off our new online ordering system, which you can view here by entering username "user8" and password "demo". We caught up with some of our current customers, as well as met potential new customers who may be interested in the services that we provide.

Each year, we produce a set of note cards to give away at promotions that we attend. These are high-end note cards that you can take home and use, or send to clients. Each card is produced with a different specialty print process (engraving, letterpress printing, diecutting, thermography). Yale Athletics Foldover Card
The stock is 80# opaque vellum cover, engraved on the front of the fold with black, PMS 289 blue, and gold metallic with a burnish pass. The inside is flat printed in 289 blue, and scored to create an uneven foldover card.

Yale University #10 Envelope
The stock is Strathmore Writing 24# Wove, Bright White #10 Commercial Envelopes. The logo is engraved with black, PMS 289 blue, and gold metallic with a burnish pass.
